Fatmata Koroma, CEO of Therapeutic Interventions Inc hosts Mister Africa USA 2016

Gabonese contestant Erwan Smith was crowned Sunday night in New York, Mister Africa USA 2016, in a ceremony co-hosted by Fatmata Koroma, CEO of Therapeutic Interventions Inc., and humanitarian actress Cece Maintain Djakiss Diarra (Ivory Coast) and Innocent Tagbado of Togo were the runners up.The jury, composed of six including four men awarded Smith the title because of his platform designed to fight corruption and dictatorship in Africa, namely in his native Gabon shaken by violences following a hotly contested presidential polls last week.

The event was produced by Mister Africa USA led by Bertini Heumegni whose vision is “to give opportunity to young Africans” from different countries to show case their talents and aspirations.In it’s third edition this year, Mister Africa USA registered contestants from 8 African countries including Burkina Fasso, Ivory Coast, Senegal, Ghana, Togo, Gabon, Ethiopia and South Africa.After an initial opening prayer, the evening started with each contestant introducing himself along with his platform. Then, there was a traditional wear, and a talent portion including a “Performance Raffle”, followed by hours long of fundraising spearheaded by Claudine Mukamabano, to benefit Fabo Foundation for the Deaf in Africa.

Event attendees included several pageants from a variety of associations among which Miss Culture USA Pageant Chancé Gatoro produced by Therapeutic Interventions Inc., a 501c, non-profit organization devoted to women advancement based in Washington, DC. AlloConakry captured some images from the event venue at National Black Theater, in Harlem.
